She was a wonderful guide who was lovely to spend the day with and really went out of her way to make the tour a memorable experience for me. I was interested in learning about the Aland parliament, and even though it was closed that day, she managed to have it opened for us so I could see the inside. I got a true insight into Aland and learned a lot on the tour as we explored some beautiful scenic places around the islands.The tour is absolute must do if you are visiting Aland! (I also received a little gift bag with snacks from Aland which was a really nice extra).Thank you to Janne and Steivi.
TacomaDawn2023-06-20Perfect way to spend a day learning about Åland Islands! My husband and I enjoyed a 7 hour tour of island sites with Anna-Lena. Seeing the sites and listening to the in depth historical and cultural information from our tour guide really gave us a good understanding of this unique self governing community and made us fall a little in love with Åland. We visited a castle, remnants of a Russian fort, an open air museum, an old prison, a cute tea garden, a lock, a church and enjoyed Ålandspannkaka and a fun beer tasting. Not having our own car (came and went by ferry) made this the perfect way to visit Åland! Thank you.

I booked my tour with very little notice, and Steivi was quick to communicate with me and accommodate me. My guide, Janne, was very informative and pleasant to spend 3 hours with. The best part of all is that both Steivi and Janne were willing to make the tour flexible so that I could see everything I wanted to see! I highly recommend booking a tour with them!
Stine Maria Ros... H2022-08-30Et møde med Ålands sjæl Jeg havde booket en guidet tur gennem Ålandtours hjemmefra. Troede jeg skulle være sammen med andre- men her sad jeg nu alene med Janne, med det vilde hår, de levende øjne og med blik for naturen og det enkle. Luksus! “Hvor du vil hen- der kører vi”, sagde hun. Og så foreslog hun, at vi skulle ende oppe nordpå på Ålands krone, som hun kalder det. Hvilket også skulle vise sig at blive en helt særlig og magisk oplevelse. Og så kørte vi afsted i den lille blå bil. Jeg så et udkigstårn på vejen- der ville jeg gerne op. Janne vendte bilen rundt og sigtede snuden mod bjerget. Uffe på Berget- hed stedet. Et udkigstårn med den fineste cafe, som mest af alt minder om noget fra Tyrol. “Du skal smage Ålandspandekager” sagde Janne. Ålsandspandekager med flødeskum, sveskekompot, kaffe og udsigt. Og en snak om, hvorfor jeg egentlig er på denne rejse. Så viste hun mig en gammel middelalderborg fra 1309-tallet. Kastelholm. Det var fint at se det historiske Åland med dertilhørende fængsel og frilandsmuseum. Egentlig er jeg mest til det levende liv og mindre til museer, men jeg er nu glad for, at jeg fik dette fine indblik❤️Ved siden af Kastelholm ligger en lille samling af kunsthåndværkere og restaurant. Jeg købte et par smukke æggebægre, en ring og lidt af den lokale æblemost. Uvidende som jeg var, kunne Janne fortælle, at Åland producerer omk 85% af hele Finlands æbleproduktion fordi klimaet her er helt unikt. Og som vi satte os ind i den lille blå bil og dragende nord på, forstod jeg hvad hun mente. Her var ikke nyhøstede gule marker. Her var grønne frodige æbleplantager så langt øjet rakte. En ålandsk stolthed🍎Jeg skulle møde Karl Erik Bergman, Jannes gode ven, - en mand i sin bedste alder og frisk som en havørn. Vi drejede ned af en grusvej, i den lille fiskerby, hvor han blev født et par huse længere henne. Nu boede han i det røde fine træhus, hvor det meste af græsarealet var dækket med brænde, som han enten havde fundet eller fået. “Jeg er selvforsynende- skyder to dyr om året her fra haven. Hiver fisk i land fra båden, dyrker mine egne grøntsager og ryger mine fisk”Janne kørte os ned til bådehuset, som Karl Erik havde måtte bygge i 80’erne, da sivene mere eller mindre havde spist sig ind på det gamle. Sivene var han ikke begejstrede for- det var han tilgengæld for den store silde-sorterings-maskine🐠👍“Jeg er fisker om sommeren, digter om vinteren. Jeg har mødt mange originaler i mit liv”, fortalte han med glimt i øjet mellem fiskenet og bøjer. Vi efterlod Karl Erik i hans fiskeparadis og kørte op til kronen på Åland, som Janne kalder det. Det er hendes sted. Der hun søger hen når stilheden skal findes. Ad kringlede grusveje hvirvlede den lille blå støvet op og på en lille plet parkerede hun den forpustede bil. Hun smed skoene. Dette terræn var hendes- og fødderne havde det bedst på mos og klipper. Hun nærmest fløj over kogler og mos, som var det velour. Det blev mere og mere gråt og blæsende. Tåget og tæt. Kogler, mos, krogede grene pegede i retning af de nøgne røde klipper, som samledes i et helligt møde forenden af Åland. Med de to have i en temperamentsfuld omfavnelse. Her plejer hun at bade, men strømmen var voldsom så vi fandt i stedet glæde ved at lytte og mærke pulsen derude på spidsen med havudsigt så langt øjet rakte. Vi vandrede tilbage og fandt en stejl grusvej ned til en lille bugt. Der var stille og havblik - vi lod tøjet glide ned om anklerne og omsluttede os det kølige vand. Forfriskede satte vi os ind i den lille blå og kørte tilbage mod Mariehamn. De seks timer var brugt- men alligevel svingede hun bilen ind til højre, til et sidste besøg på bryggeriet Stallhagen, dem med honningen og øllet. Og der på terrassen sad Ålands bedste accordeonspiller- en kvinde med venner, smil på læben og glæde i fingrene, og spillede viser af Evert Taube. Min sjæl hvad vil du mere?

The restaurant where we had lunch with Janne was an excellent choice, we can only recommend this place. We went all over the island and I really felt like I got a good understanding of the culture on this unique islands from a real local. We went to lots of different attractions like the castle and a local farm for coffee and an Aland pancake. We ended the day at a pub and had a delicious meal. I would highly recommend this tour.

Goren was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and a delight to be with. We were able to see everything we requested, as well as some additional wonderful things in wonderful Aland.
Vivian G2022-05-27Special, personal tour of Aland Our private tour of Aland with Janne was way above our expectations. Janne is very passionate and knowledgeable about Aland and shared her enthusiasm in a warm, charming way. She moved to Aland from Estonia and wrote a book about her beautiful new home. We had a chance to see quite a bit of the island and had a personal visit with a 92 year old fisherman who is also a poet.Janne took us to some historic sites and various gorgeous spots with scenic views. We had a traditional yummy pancake for lunch and also stopped at a brewery. Janne is an excellent guide and is eager to please.
DittoD2022-05-16Too Short of a Day! What only had a short time to tour (8:30am to 2:00pm) and our guide Janne (filling in for Stevi) filled those hours wonderfully. We got a history and culture lesson on the island while we drove through beautiful scenery to our first stop. We met a 92 year old herring fisherman, who who showed us his operations and shared some delicious smoke fish. We then went to visit a cutting edge apple orchard, and sampled some cider and nibbles. Finally we visited the local castle and village. While writing this I'm thinking a reader is probably yawning. Don't! We really had a great time and we want to return. This island has much to offer and we should have scheduled a much longer stay, and more time with Janne.
